AT THE END OF THE 20TH CENTURY… I have seen, to the point of ad nauseam, list after list of the most famous people of the 20th century. Not to be outdone, I have developed my own list, obviously from a male perspective. Even if you agree with my list, it is highly improbable that your "significant other" would come close to agreeing with it as follows:
  1. Theodore Roosevelt was a skilled athlete and outdoorsmen. He led the "rough riders" up San Juan Hill. Later as president, his skill and foreign policy brought America the respect it greatly deserved as well as the Panama Canal.
  2. Audie Murphy exhibited heroism that made him the most decorated serviceman in World War II. He received the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for bravery, for single-handedly holding off German tanks and waves of infantry from on top a burning tank.
  3. Sir Edmund Hillary faced death to be the first man atop Mount Everest. He did IT without oxygen packs or the high-tech thermal clothing and fancy gadgets available today. He did it the old-fashioned way – with brains, guts and determination.
  4. John Wayne was a star athlete at USC and went on to become the real man’s actor, starring in over 250 films. Though most people don’t know it, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in recognition for service to his country.
  5. Vince Lombardi took the Green Bay Packers and made them one of the greatest FOOTBALL TEAMS of all time. Under Lombardi, the "Pack" won five NFL titles and the first two Superbowls. Lombardi is also the NFL’s all-time winningest coach. It is no wonder the Superbowl trophy is named for him.
  6. John Glenn, long after most men had settled comfortably into the rocking chair, climbed back into a rocket and got shot into space at the age of 77. he was the first man to orbit the earth and is as much an icon today as he was after his first mission.
  7. Clint Eastwood is dirty harry – hard-bitten, cigar-chewing and a heroic loner. One of the movie industries most successful talents.
  8. Lee Iaocca wins his place for having the COURAGE to attempt the revival of chrysler. at the start, he accept only a $1 per year salary. he was willing to bet on himself and knew he’d succeed to become one of the nation’s highest-paid executives. because of him, thousands of people kept their jobs and chrysler once again became one of the dominant automobile companies in the world.
  9. Michael Jordan worked magic on the court. he is the best basketball player and possibly the best athlete-ever.
  10. RONALD REAGAN – Star college athlete, sportscaster, actor and our most popular president, is the most obvious choice for my favorite president. I can barely remember a more proud American moment thatn hearing him say,"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." Signifying his victory over communism's "Evil Empire". I have never been prouder to be an American than when Ronald Reagan was our president.
